Rosh Hashanah is not a religious holiday, nor is it reserved for one particular group of people. It is the cosmic window in time that sets our coming year into motion. Think of it as a year-end evaluation for the entire world if you may. On these two days, our lives, as well as that of all humankind are judged for our deeds. The entire world goes through this process. When we come together as a unified whole, our collective efforts have the power to affect our destiny for the positive.
Rosh Hashanah is an opportunity to create cosmic unity and through our individual efforts elevate the collective consciousness. The Kabbalists say that the more people surrounding us as our souls appear before the heavenly courts, the less we have to fret about the personal judgments that may be upon us. The group elevates the individual. We become one star connected with thousands of others stars that light up the night sky, thus helping to cancel our individual transgressions.
This coming year in the kabbalistic calendar is תשע”ח , which is an acronym for תהא שנת עץ חיים “may it be a year of connection to the tree of life”.
This gives us a hint as to the importance of this Rosh Hashanah. We have the opportunity this year through our prayers, shofar, and connections on this Rosh Hashanah to connect to the realm of the tree of life as in no other year. We also have the ability to draw down this Light to the entire world.
Therefore, this year as in no year prior, it is important that we gather together in love, unity, and consciousness to do the work and connections of Rosh Hashanah together and bring for ourselves, our families, and for the world a deep and powerful connection to a reality where there is no pain, suffering, and death; a world that is filled with only Light, blessings, and life.
